About the Family Office/Investment Firm:
The Firm is a small to medium-sized NYC family office with eight full-time staff that manages the family’s assets and investments, including both a long/short equities fund and a private markets fund with successful 20+ year track records. The Firm also owns a variety of income generating businesses and interests and the family is actively involved in educational, human rights, and medical research philanthropy.
About the CFO/COO Role:
Working closely with two generations of family members on all fund and family-related finance/accounting/operational needs, the newly created Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operating Officer (CFO/COO) position will manage all non-investment related functions. The CFO/COO will engage with the firm’s key business service providers (operations, audit, fund administration) and serve in a key investor relations (IR) capacity, should the firm raise external capital.
The CFO/COO, who will report directly to the Firm’s Founder and Chief Investment Officer (CIO), will foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
The Firm is based in NYC and supports a hybrid location work-model.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will come from one of two backgrounds, and possess the following abilities and skills:
· BACKGROUND 1: CFO/Controller with strong knowledge of US GAAP relating to private investment funds and private investment fund financial reporting, with approximately 5-10 years in a hedge fund, private equity, or family office environment
· BACKGROUND 2: Investment Analyst candidate with about 5-10 years of experience in valuation- and accounting-intensive L/S equities experience, who wants to transition to a senior role managing all non-investment related functions (finance/accounting/operations/IR)
· Strong interpersonal skills, with the knowledge and ability to inspire confidence and influence decision-making at the highest levels
· Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
· Entrepreneurial business building mindset
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance, strong academic record; CPA strongly preferred for Background 1 above
